Stand oil is linseed oil that has been heat-polymerised under controlled conditions — a process that fundamentally transforms its properties. The result is a thick, honey-like oil with outstanding self-levelling ability and one of the most archival profiles of any painting medium.
Key properties
How to use Stand oil should always be used in the upper layers of a painting, in accordance with the fat over lean principle. Mix in small quantities with paint directly, or combine with a solvent to reduce viscosity and improve flow. A little goes a long way.
For everyday use and strong binding in mid layers, see our Linseed Oil. For light colors and extended wet-on-wet work, discover our Walnut Oil.
Available in 150 ml or 250 ml. For larger quantities, please contact me.
