Toutes les huiles ne se comportent pas de la même manière. L'huile de lin offre une excellente résistance du film et une grande durabilité. L'huile de noix sèche plus lentement, reste flexible et est moins sujette au jaunissement, ce qui la rend particulièrement adaptée aux couleurs claires et au travail de glacis.
Les deux peuvent être utilisées pour ajuster la consistance, prolonger le temps de travail ou retravailler certaines zones d'une peinture. Toutes les huiles proposées ici sont de qualité beaux-arts, sélectionnées pour leur pureté et leurs performances à long terme.

Walnut Oil
A refined, pale-drying oil with a long history in oil painting — particularly prized for its exceptional clarity and its minimal tendency to yellow over time. Walnut oil is the preferred choice for artists working with light, delicate colour palettes.
Key properties
- Significantly lower yellowing index than linseed oil — ideal for whites and light tones
- Slower drying time, extending wet-on-wet working sessions
- Excellent flexibility in the dried paint film, reducing the risk of cracking
- Suitable for glazing, fine detail work, and soft blending techniques
- Can be used as a brush conditioner during long painting sessions
Important note Its slower drying rate makes walnut oil less suited to underpainting or initial layers where faster drying is required. In those cases, use it sparingly or consider working lean in the early stages.
