Le Vert Permanent est un pigment stable et lumineux, broyé dans un mélange d'huile de lin et d'huile de noix. Sa nuance se caractérise par une intensité profonde avec des reflets froids et un ton légèrement bleuâtre, résultant de la combinaison de PG 7 (vert phtalo), PG 17 (vert d’oxyde de chrome), PB 15 (bleu de phtalo) et PB 28 (bleu de cobalt vert). Le pigment est également enrichi en PW 7 (blanc de zinc) pour améliorer sa luminosité et sa couvrance.
