drying oils

Not all oils behave the same way. Linseed oil offers excellent film strength and durability. Walnut oil dries more slowly, stays flexible, and is less prone to yellowing, making it particularly suited to light colours and glazing work.

Both can be used to adjust consistency, extend working time, or rework areas of a painting. All oils offered here are artist-grade, selected for their purity and long-term performance.

LINSEED OIL - COLD PRESSED

LINSEED OIL - COLD PRESSED 7.95 EUR

Linseed Oil

The most widely used oil in oil painting, and the traditional binder of the craft. Cold-pressed linseed oil retains the full natural properties of the seed, offering a pure, unadulterated medium that integrates seamlessly with professional oil paints.

Key properties

  • Strong binding power and excellent long-term film durability
  • Slightly increases drying time, extending workability on the palette
  • Enhances color depth and paint flow without altering pigment integrity
  • Best suited to mid tones and dark colors

Important note Linseed oil has a slight tendency to yellow over time. For whites, very light tones, and delicate colour mixtures, walnut oil is the recommended alternative.

Looking for a slower-drying, non-yellowing option? Discover our Walnut Oil. Need a medium for glazing and smooth final layers? Explore our Stand Oil (45 Poise).
