PRUSSIAN BLUE — N.420

EN

The first modern synthetic pigment, discovered by accident in Berlin in 1704. PB27 (ferric hexacyanoferrate) appears near-black in masstone but opens into cool, silvery blue-greens in glazes. Very high tinting strength. It is exceptional for dark naturalistic greens and portrait shadow passages. Note: its lightfastness becomes less reliable in very pale tints mixed with white.
