A colour of undeniable historical depth. PR83 (first synthesised in 1868) delivers a cool, smoky ruby with exceptional transparency — unmatched in dark portrait glazes and deep shadow passages. Lightfastness is moderate (ASTM III); it performs best in rich, substantial layers rather than pale tints. For a fully permanent alternative, I recommend mixing Transparent Red Oxide (N.385) with Magenta (N.342).

PR83 (synthétisé pour la première fois en 1868) offre un rubis frais et fumé d'une transparence exceptionnelle — incomparable pour les glacis sombres en portrait et les passages d'ombre profonde. La solidité à la lumière est modérée (ASTM III) ; elle se comporte mieux en couches riches et généreuses qu'en teintes pâles.
