LITHOPONE WHITE — N.104
A quiet, refined white — overlooked for too long, yet truly precious on the palette. A synthetic inorganic pigment (PW5 — co-precipitate of zinc sulphide and barium sulphate), it sits between titanium and zinc in its handling: semi-opaque, slightly cool in tone, with a smooth and mobile consistency that feels natural under the brush.
Its moderate tinting strength is its greatest asset in mixing: it raises value without overpowering the parent hue, making it a far more sympathetic mixing white than titanium. Free from the brittleness associated with zinc oxide, it forms a lean, stable, durable paint film. Where Titanium White asserts, Lithopone White suggests.
The ideal white for soft lights, delicate glazes, subtle flesh tones and nuanced transitions.
